Welcome....

Welcome to Dogs of Downtown where we showcase our wonderful four-legged friends who live and visit the Downtown Los Angeles area.

Downtown Los Angeles is home to more than 13,000 dogs who live in lofts, apartments, houses and hotels. As Downtown continues to expand and grow, so too will the number of pets. Downtown Los Angeles is unique in that most lofts and residential buildings allow dogs - most without breed/weight restrictions. This attracts many people who own or wish to own a dog to move into the area. Couple that with the increasing number of world class restaurants, activities and nightlife and it becomes clear why Downtown is one of the most desireable and fastest growing areas in Los Angeles.

Dogs of Downtown strives to show-off our incredible diverse mix of dogs who walk the streets, play in the parks and hang out at restaurants. We hope you enjoy it!

Chloe - Yorkie

OMG.  I DO love the Yorkies!  Especially when they dig wearing adorable clothes (bought at Pet Project! *shameless plug*) and have lovely attitudes.  Like Chloe!  Chloe is 3 years old and apparently has been dressing up in clothes her whole life!  She gets so excited when you pull out a new jacket, sweater or shirt - she just can't wait to try it on and show you how pretty she is!  Luv her!

Cheyenne - Pointer/Laborador mix

Cheyenne is a very athletic dog who gets totally fixated on a frisbee or ball.  He is also a vegetarian, like his mother, and most of all - he's a master escape artist!!  This dude has learned how to open the front door of his house and there appears to be nothing that can stop him!  He hates being alone and is content to just roam the hallways and lobby of his building.  Cheyenne is 4 years old and an extremely sweet boy who just has a lot of love to give and so he feels he needs to be out giving it to all of the neighbors!

Scarlett - Doberman Pinscher

Oh the Doberman.  I am totally partial to them since my own beloved pup is of that noble breed!  They are fearless, strong, loyal and GOOFY!  This is Scarlett, a 9 month old chocolate and tan girl with such a sweet attitude!  She is very much at that goofy age and I had to break it to her mom that they never really grow out of it!  They are goofs for life!  She stole my heart!

Mechelle - King Charles Spaniel

Mechelle is an adorable 3 year old sweet heart who has an almost identical brother, Charles! They make quite the team!

Charles - King Charles Spaniel

Awwww, who can resist a King Charles Spaniel?!  The eternal baby-face!  This is Charles, a 4 year old boy who is as sweet as he looks!

Ooi - An ity-bity Chihuahua

Ooi is an ADORABLE 4 month old baby who is teeny tiny!!  He measures 7 inches from his neck to where his tail starts - I know because we measured him for a teeny, tiny sweater!  He isn't shy and is modeling one of the many collars I carry in my store.  I would love to see more of Ooi!!

George - Chihuahua mix

George is another Main Street doggie, who hangs out with his best friend, Annie the Chihuahua.  George gets a ton of attention from his friends and from strangers who stop to give him a pat on the head!  He is a delight to know!

Moses - Poodle

Moses is a 4 year old poodle.  I didn't get to gather any information on Moses since his human was in a huge hurry so all I can tell you is the obvious - he's adorable!

Mini and Marley - Daschunds

Two little hottie dogs - Mini (left) is 2 years old and Marley (right) is 5.  Both live in Downtown and can be seen on their walks around the Main Street and 6th Street area!  What darlings!

Pup - Maltese

Pup is a 1 1/2 year old Maltese who is just tickled pink!  She is so darned cute and a real lady!  Her human asked for her to be dyed "cotton candy pink" for a red carpet event!  -- Don't worry, it is harmless dye made especially for dogs!  (Don't ever use human hair coloring on any animal)

Riley - Akita

Riley is one of those Downtown Dogs who knew everybody and everybody knew him.  He moved to Mt. Washington early this year and downtown is a bit emptier for it.   Riley was not only a sweet boy, but the apple of his mom's eye.  They truly loved each other.  Sadly, Riley passed away peacefully last week, with his mommy right by his side.  Riley lived a good, happy long life of 13 years and left everyone with wonderful memories of his sweetness.  We will all miss him - but most of all we are so thankful for having known him.

Mr. Tofu - Chihuahua mix

I just love this picture!!! Mr. Tofu is such a darling little man!  And wearing his little coat so proudly!  Mr. Tofu was born after his chihuahua mom was rescued from death row. Little did her human know that her new dog was pregnant. But since her owner was one of the groomers at Bark Avenue, little Tofu and two other siblings were born in a crate in a quiet area in the back of the grooming section.  Mr. Tofu was adopted by one of the ladies who works at Bark Avenue and so he has pretty much grown up there!  And let me tell you - this is one tough little dude!

Coal - Terrier mix

Coal is a 4 month old mixture of cuteness with a dash of adorable thrown in for good measure!  Coal is a bit shy but starting to come out of it - it helps that he goes to daycare at Bark Avenue almost daily!

Dinah - Pitt Bull

Dinah stole my heart!  She is such a love and so gentle.  I mean, look at that smile!!  She could easily be in a commercial with that look!  She is 3 years old and was rescued as a baby by her human.  She is such a good girl - and knows it!

Orion - Pomeranian mix

Orion is a 4 month old Pom mix and is super loved by his mommy!  He was actually given away to someone but his owner couldn't stop crying for her baby and missed him so much that she went back to the woman and paid a very large sum to have him back in her arms again!   Now they are back together again and both very strongly bonded!

Daphne - American Pit Bull Terrier

Daphne is a 3 month old sweetheart who is already well mannered!  She sits so very well - especially for one of her favorite treats, a piece of apple!  She loves her walks and to play with a tennis ball.

Peanut - Pit Bull mix

Peanut comes to Downtown from Missouri and I would imagine - loving the weather!  She is a playful little 1 1/2 year old girl who loves playing with other dogs.  She is getting used to life in Downtown and will soon be an old pro in navigating through the crowds on the sidewalks in no time!
