Welcome....

Welcome to Dogs of Downtown where we showcase our wonderful four-legged friends who live and visit the Downtown Los Angeles area.

Downtown Los Angeles is home to more than 13,000 dogs who live in lofts, apartments, houses and hotels. As Downtown continues to expand and grow, so too will the number of pets. Downtown Los Angeles is unique in that most lofts and residential buildings allow dogs - most without breed/weight restrictions. This attracts many people who own or wish to own a dog to move into the area. Couple that with the increasing number of world class restaurants, activities and nightlife and it becomes clear why Downtown is one of the most desireable and fastest growing areas in Los Angeles.

Dogs of Downtown strives to show-off our incredible diverse mix of dogs who walk the streets, play in the parks and hang out at restaurants. We hope you enjoy it!

Lexi - Mix Breed

This is one lucky pup.  Lexi was found by his owner in the parking garage of the building and he was scared, dirty and very thirsty.  After many hours of coaxing, his mom finally got him out from under a car.  She tried to find his owners and after several weeks, she decided that Lexi was hers and they have been together ever since.  Lexi is still quite shy and takes a bit of time to warm up to strangers, but at home he is "the perfect dog".

Angel - before and after...

Angel...the name says it all.  He really is an angel.  The poor baby was found in an alley inside a box.  He was barely three weeks old when the wonderful man who found him brought him to Pet Project, seeking help.  One of my neighbors, Jessica, fell in love with this little baby and between the two of us, nursed his dehydrated, hungry little body back to health.  He is now a wonderful adolescent kitty with the most mellow personality!  Jessica will periodically bring Angel to Pet Project for a visit and he purrs and cuddles as if he is the happiest kitty in the world!

Squid - Pug

This is Squid.  Squid is a 4 month old pug who is incredibly adorable!!  I asked how he got the name Squid and his daddy told me that he makes lots of squishy sounds and his eyes are far apart - kind of squidlike!  You can name this pup anything and it all comes down to this.....HE'S CUTE!!!
